Rangelands NRM will join forces with DAFWA will be holding a series of one day Pasture Identification Workshops across the west and eastern Kimberley from March to April 2015.
These workshops will be delivered by Andrew Mitchell and Kath Ryan from the WA Department of Agriculture and Food (DAFWA) with support from Rangelands NRM.
Rangelands NRM Regional Landcare Facilitator Mez Clunies-Ross said the workshop will consist of a short field visit and presentation which covers plant taxonomy of Kimberley’s and a plant identification session.
“These practical, hands-on workshops will cover how to identify native pasture species under cattle grazing (herbs, grasses and shrubs) and how to identify indicator species related to the rangeland condition,” Ms Clunies-Ross said.
Participants will learn how to take samples/photos for further identification and also the relationship between different soil types and plant species.
The workshop are hosted at various locations in the West and Eastern Kimberley.
