Indigenous Environmental Management Planning on Mt Wittenoom

The Indigenous Environmental Management Planning (EMP) process is a joint funded, collaborative project being undertaken by Indigenous Landholder Services and Rangelands NRM.

The project will commence in the New Year with Stage One being undertaken with the station manager and interested parties associated with the management of Mt Wittenoom Station.

The project, which is undertaken in three stages, builds upon existing EMPs that were undertaken previously across properties located in Southern Agricultural Region of Western Australia and Ecological Sustainable Rangelands Management (ESRM) plans that were developed for properties across some parts of the Rangelands.

The overall process includes: property background, tenure of occupants, objectives of management plan, property description i.e. landscape, climate, rainfall, growing season, rangeland condition: geology and soils, vegetation, declared plants and animals, drainage systems and fire management.

The ESRM process concludes with stage three and the implementation of a business plan.
