Rangelands NRM team at State NRM Conference

A number of Rangelands NRM staff and project managers will be presenting at the upcoming State NRM Conference in Busselton early next month.
The ‘Tipping Point Conference’, organised by WA’s seven regional Natural Resource Management (NRM) groups, the State NRM Office and major partner, Regional Development Australia, will take place in Busselton from 7-9 May.
The conference will examine positive practices and how our communities and industries have shifted from being part of the problem to part of the solution, and how we can use these practices to encourage more positive change.

Over 60 abstracts were received from industry professionals vying for speaking spots in the concurrent sessions, so the plenary program is well supported by more technical and project specific sessions of choice on each day.
Rangelands NRM Operations Manager John Silver and Mel Strang from Ecoedge will be presenting about Rangelands NRM new online Regional Plan in a session ˜Interactive regional planning and environmental asset mapping for the Rangelands’.
Rangelands NRM Indigenous NRM Projects Officer Bevan Grey will talk about ‘Indigenous NRM – what is working in the rangelands of WA’, will introduce Les Schultz, Ngadju conservation who will present on their project ‘Continuing the Ngadju journey’ and the ‘On Country – Ngurrawaana Rangers’ film will be shown.

Linda Anderson from the Pilbara Mesquite Management Committee (PMMC) will be presenting about her weed project in a session ‘Mining partnerships – we can dig it!’.
A number of posters will also be presented from Rangelands NRM:

  • Pics and Flicks: communicating natural resource management to outback communities (Teresa Belcher)
  • Coralling the Coral Cactus at Tarmoola (Jane Bradley)
  • Getting Deep into Carbon (Dr Peter Russell)

While the conference is designed for NRM professionals and agency groups, the invitation is open to all and farming, agricultural, fishery and forestry service providers will all find relevance in this program.

The conference includes a gala dinner with quality entertainment, supported by RDA.
